We are reaching the end of our ambitious Centennial Campaign with approximately $750,000 pledged and $670,000 in hand towards our original goal of 1 million dollars. We are still accepting pledges and contributions through August 15, 2024, at which point we will declare the Centennial Campaign completed. In this last big push, we ask supporters to consider either extending your annual pledge for another five years at the same level or making another one-time contribution.
We, as a community, have taken the plunge and embarked on an extensive renovation project of our Minnie Brown Center. The new Minnie Brown Center will sport an elevator, four fully accessible restrooms and a new kitchen. The downstairs space will be completely reconfigured to enlarge the five classrooms and the kitchen. The wiring and “systems” of the building have been fully updated. The stairs and restrooms and signage will now all be “to code.”
However, the cost of the new construction has been significantly more than we budgeted for, and we were already reaching to afford the original plan. This is no one’s fault. The synagogue board and building committee, the architect, and the contractor have all been super attentive and careful.
What can you do to help? If you already made a multi-year pledge, consider extending it for additional years. Please click on the Centennial Fundraising Campaign button below and let us know your decision. If you made a one-time contribution to the campaign, please consider making another contribution. Again, please click on the Centennial Fundraising Campaign button below. If you haven’t yet contributed to the campaign, this is the moment! There are also a number of naming opportunities for some of the new spaces. Contact us and we will send a list.
The success of this Centennial Fundraising Campaign will ensure that our small, regional, Jewish community can continue to thrive in Bath, Maine for the next one hundred years.
