Covid Guidelines for In-Person Events
Beth Israel Congregation
Updated April 2021
Beth Israel Congregation will resume a limited number of in-person events with the following guidelines governing our gathering together. As we move to some in-person events, we will continue to hold events on Zoom. We encourage all members who are eligible to get a Covid vaccine as soon as possible. Our decisions are and will continue to be guided by the medical advice of our Covid Response Team, the Maine CDC and the U.S. CDC. The most up to date information will be found in your weekly email or on the Beth Israel website.
Please address any questions about this policy to President Peggy Brown.
Guidelines
Everyone who attends in-person events indoors at Beth Israel Congregation must wear a mask and remain physically distant at all times.
Anyone attending an indoor event must be fully vaccinated and have reached maximum immunity. This means the person must be two weeks subsequent to their second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 30 days after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
We ask everyone to RSVP to in-person events.
We will keep a record of everyone who attends our events to aid in contact tracing if needed.
There will be no communal kiddush, motzi or oneg. Participants are welcome to bring their own water bottle with them.
Anyone with symptoms of illness should not attend congregational events.
Attendance at events by children or those unable to be vaccinated will be handled on a case-by-case basis following CDC guidelines.
Outdoor Events
Beginning in May, we will offer several outdoor events. We ask that you RSVP and follow the guidelines above. In the event of bad weather, these services will be at the synagogue.
Zoom Events
We will continue to offer a Zoom link to our indoor Shabbat services. Torah study will continue to be held on Zoom.
